Our Story
A Journey of Compassion and Advocacy
The Florida Association of Child Life Professionals (FACLP) was born out of a shared vision to support and advocate for child life professionals across Florida. Our journey is one of passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of child life professionals and children and families in healthcare settings.
Founding and Early Days
The Florida Association of Child Life Professionals was formed in 1991, by a group of individuals who sought to foster and promote the health and well-being of all children and their families. Compiled by a group of Child Life Specialists, they created a place where others in the community can feel seen and heard, allowing them to provide the best support to those in need.
Milestones and Achievements
Throughout our history, FACLP has achieved numerous milestones that reflect our dedication to our mission. Some of our proudest achievements include:
- Establishing Annual Conferences: Hosting annual conferences that attract leading experts and provide valuable learning opportunities.
- Advocacy Efforts: Successfully advocating for policies and practices that support the role of child life professionals.
- Educational Resources: Developing a wide range of educational resources to support the continuous professional development of our members.
Our Commitment to the Future
As we look to the future, FACLP remains committed to our core values of compassion, integrity, and advocacy. We are dedicated to expanding our programs, increasing our advocacy efforts, and continuing to provide career opportunities for our members. Our vision is to ensure that every child and family in Florida receives the highest quality care and support from professionals who put them first.
